Die Neue bei MTV kommt aus Wedding

Gelockt, wild, voluminös - ihre dunkelbraunen Haare sind so etwas wie ihr Markenzeichen. "Sie haben einen Wiedererkennungswert", sagt Hadnet Tesfai. "Deswegen trage ich sie in meiner Freizeit immer geschlossen."
Denn seit die 28-jährige Berlinerin das neue Gesicht der MTV-Sendung "Urban TRL" ist, wird sie überall erkannt. Und das passt eigentlich gar nicht so richtig zu ihr, so viel Aufmerksamkeit. Hadnet Tesfai hat nichts von dieser Frontfrau-Attitude. Aber was sie hat, sind Ziele und Biss. Im Alter von drei Jahren als eines von vier Kindern politischer Flüchtlinge aus Eritrea (nordöstliches Afrika) nach Deutschland emigriert, hat sie nach dem Abitur (1,7) an der Freien Universität Berlin Nordamerika-Studien, Politikwissenschaften und Arabistik auf Magister studiert. Nach einem Praktikum beim Hörfunk-Sender Kiss FM entdeckte sie vor acht Jahren ihre Leidenschaft für den Musik-Journalismus und war bis zu ihrem Einstieg bei dem Musiksender im Februar acht Jahre lang als Hörfunk-Reporterin und -Redakteurin u. a. für "Fritz" tätig.
"Aber MTV, das war schon ein wichtiges Etappen-Ziel für mich", sagt sie. "Es ist ein tolles Gefühl, dieses Mikro in der Hand zu haben, mit dem legendären "MTV-Cube".
Klar könne die Arbeit bei einem Musiksender ein Karriere-Sprungbrett sein. Stefan Raab, Heike Makatsch, Christian Ulmen, Sarah Kuttner, Gülcan Karahanci, sie alle starteten als sogenannte VJs durch.
Aber: "Ich bin kein Mensch, der sich viel traut. Ich muss die Dinge erst im stillen Kämmerlein ausprobieren und feststellen, ob es da ein Quäntchen Talent gibt oder eben nicht. Wenn ich weiß, ich kann etwas, dann werde ich locker."
Locker gibt sich Hadnet in ihrem Kiez: "Wir haben eine Wohnung gesucht, die zentral liegt und trotzdem günstig ist." Und die haben Hadnet und ihr Lebensgefährte (seit sieben Jahren liiert) in Wedding gefunden. "Neben unserer Wohnung sind ein Telecafé und ein Wettbüro - da ist immer was los. Aber genau das ist es, was ich an Wedding schätze." Auf den Straßen schlagen Jugendliche oft die Zeit tot, erzählt Hadnet. Und seit sie Hadnet Tesfai erkannt haben, nennen sie sie "Prinzessin". "Aber diese Getto-Romantik, MTV-Moderatorin hilft Straßenkids, die gibt's nicht." Dass es die Jugendlichen begeistert, sie zu treffen, versteht sie nicht. "Einmal ist ein Mädchen beinahe zusammengebrochen vor Freude. Ich dachte: Was macht sie, wenn sie jemand wirklich Tollen trifft?".
