Two dead in Bisha Desert identified

BISHA – The bodies of two men found dead in the desert have been identified by their family and released for burial by the Governor’s office in Bisha.
Ali Bin Muhammad Aal Mussbih, undersecretary of Bisha Governorate, said eight out of the 15 bodies have been identified. Among them are two Saudis, four Yemenis and two Eritreans. He said pictures will be taken of the unidentified bodies and DNA tests will be conducted from nucleic acid samples. – Okaz

Eight illegal immigrants die of thirst in desert

BISHA – Eight unidentified illegal immigrants, died of dehydration in Al-Banah Desert, 50 kilometers east of Al-Jenainah rural center of Bisha Governorate. The bodies were found at almost equal distances from their vehicle, according to security officials.
Security officials said the eight illegal immigrants were attempting to travel via the desert between the Bisha and Tathleeth governorates. On the way they were trapped in the sand but were unable to remove the vehicle. Civil Defense teams found four bodies near the stranded vehicle, three bodies 5km away, and an eighth body 5km away but in a different location.
Forensic teams deployed to the scene said the men had been dead for two days before they were found.
Police are searching for other survivors after they received information the vehicle had more than eight passengers.
Lt. Col. Ali ‘Arwan, Director of Al-Neqai’ Police, Maj. Husein Al-Olayyani, Director of Civil Defense in Bisha and several officers and privates from the police, Civil Defense and forensic evidence units participated in the search. – Okaz
